University of Kigali appoints Nigerian Professor Ogechi Adeola as Deputy Vice-Chancellor

In a significant move aimed at reinforcing academic excellence and dynamic leadership, the University of Kigali, Rwanda, has appointed Nigerian, Professor Ogechi Adeola as its new Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academics.

The official announcement, released via the university’s website, highlighted Adeola’s impressive background and commitment to advancing education.

Renowned in the field of Marketing, Professor Adeola brings a wealth of experience to her new role. Holding a Doctorate in Business Administration and an MBA from the prestigious Alliance Manchester Business School in the UK, she boasts over 28 years of professional expertise.

Her academic journey includes serving as the Head of the Department of Operations, Marketing, and Information Systems at the Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University, Nigeria.

Commencing her career at Citibank Nigeria, Professor Adeola has demonstrated a dedication to excellence by completing executive education programs globally. Her interdisciplinary research interests span marketing strategy, sustainability, tourism, and gender studies, resulting in an impressive portfolio of over 120 academic publications. Notably, she received the Emerald Literati Award for Outstanding Paper in 2022.

Ranked as the top scholar in marketing by the Alper-Doger Scientific Index in Nigeria, Professor Adeola extends her influence beyond academia. She is recognized as a dedicated mentor, consultant, and advocate for women’s empowerment. Her commitment is evident through initiatives such as the Digital Business Tutelage for Women Empowerment in Africa Initiative (DBTWEAi).

As Deputy Vice-Chancellor – Academic at the University of Kigali, Professor Ogechi Adeola is poised to contribute significantly to academic leadership, aligning with the institution’s unwavering commitment to excellence. Her appointment, effective from January 11, signifies a new chapter for the University of Kigali and emphasizes its pursuit of fostering a robust academic environment under her capable leadership.
