By Peter Eze, Precious Nwafor

In a bid to provide more access roads and expand the university’s road network, the Enugu State Governor, His Excellency, Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah will construct a one kilometre road in the Nigeria premier university of technology, the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT as well as complete the ESUT Pavilion

The Vice-Chancellor, ESUT, Professor Aloysius-Michaels Okolie who disclosed this on Wednesday said the projects are critical to the university.

“The Governor said that he will give us one kilometre road and equally promised that the pavilion will be completed this year. The day he is going to do the ground-breaking for one kilometre road, all the students and staff will be involved. They will all come for the ground-breaking to welcome His Excellency.

“So he means well for ESUT. The projects are critical to us. We are already discussing with him on some of the challenges we are facing.”

He also spoke about plans to complete the new hostels in the university to easy accommodation challenges faced by the students and the need to install solar panels in the hostels to augment power supply.

“We went to where they are building hostels for you (students) and challenged them (contactors) to try and finish the hostel by September so that we reduce the pressure we have. We are not satisfied with what we are seeing. We know we should have solar panels for the hostel, but we are looking for the money to do it.”
