Access Bank CEO, Wife, Son Three Others Killed in Helicopter Crash

Access Bank Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr Herbert Wigwe, wife, son and three others were this evening killed in a helicopter crash in the United States of America, USA

Wigwe, his wife and son were in the helicopter when it crashed in California near the Nevada border. Other onboard the ill-fated chopper include Abimbola Ogunbanjo, the group chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group).

Six passengers were onboard, however, no survivors found so far.

Herbert was the Group Managing Director/CEO of Access Bank plc, one of Nigeria’s top five banking institutions, after succeeding his business partner, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede in January 2014 till April 2022.[

Wigwe was named 2016 Banker of The Year separately by The Sun and Vanguard newspapers, two of Nigeria’s biggest newspapers.


The Federal Aviation Administration said that the Eurocopter EC130 helicopter crashed at around 10 p.m. local time near Nipton, Calif, an unincorporated community about 60 miles south of Las Vegas in eastern San Bernardino County.

The chopper was headed to Las Vegas when it crashed Friday night near Nevada and California.
