NAAT Lauds ESUT Management on Approval of Technologists To Reach Grade Level 14

By Amaechi Agbo, Agbani

Members of the National Association of Academic Technologists, NAAT ESUT Chapter, have expressed appreciation to the management of the University for granting approval for its members to be promoted to Grade Level 14 in their careers.

NAAT Chairman, Comrade Anthonia Onyia who disclosed this to ESUT, said the management’s gesture is a welcome development.

Although she regretted that the promotion would only take effect from 2025, the chairman appreciated the approval adding that the association is still in talks with the management to ensure that technologists in the university are allowed to reach grade level 15 as it’s obtained in other universities.

“I’m so happy that the day I approached our registrar, he told me that level 14 had been approved for technologists in ESUT.

“But then, it is not going to be effected or implemented in this ongoing appraisal exercise. He said it would come up from next year, that is 2025. But I’m still happy because it has been long that we are on that struggle.  But today, level 14 has been approved for NAAT,” she said.

Describing technologists as the engineroom of every tertiary institution, Comrade Onyia stressed that the approval of the promotion to Grade Level 14 will spur her members to do more in ESUT.

“Technologists are the engineroom of not just the university but every tertiary institution in the world. They are at the core of academic excellence because they are in charge of all the piraticals in the university.

“The approval will of course motivate my members to work harder because it has been long we have been on that and there are many schools that are already on that level, schools that ESUT started before them. So now that we are among those schools that are enjoying it, my branch will be happy and we are grateful to the management.”
