20th Convocation: ESUT Alumni Association Donates N10 million to Management
…Passes Vote of Confidence on Gov Mbah, Ohaa, VC
The ESUT Alumni Association under the leadership of Barr. C.N.N, Nwagbara, on Thursday, donated N10 million to the University in support of the 20th convocation ceremony and other projects undertaken by the University Management.
The Association equally passed a vote of confidence on the Governor of Enugu State, Barr. Peter Mbah; the Chairman, ESUT Governing Council, Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa; and the ESUT Vice Chancellor, Professor Aloysius-Michaels Okolie, for their leadership ingenuity in their endeavours.
The Association further expressed gratitude to Governor Mbah, for his numerous interventions and promise of more supports to the University.
Barr. Nwagbara, the National Treasurer of the Association, Chief Ambrose Ugwu, and the Alumni Representative to the Council, Dr. Innocent Akuvue, while presenting the N10 million cheque to the Chairman of ESUT Governing Council, Sir Ohaa, during the Council’s meeting in the University, lauded the current University administration for keeping to its promise of making convocation an annual academic programme in the University.
Part of the statement by the Association which was endorsed by the National President, Barr. Nwagbara read ” It is pleasing to ESUT Alumni to hear once again that under your administration ESUT is ready to hold a third consecutive convocation.
” ESUT Alumni Association, as the umbrella association of all graduates of ESUT, is the first-line stakeholder charged with the responsibilities of providing a platform for networking for graduates of ESUT, supporting, protecting, projecting, and promoting the good interest and image of ESUT everywhere and ever ready to pursue these responsibilities.
“The progress and success of the programs and agendas of the ESUT Management Team is and will continue to be the topmost in positive consideration and support by the ESUT Alumni Association.
“The ESUT Alumni in keeping with our aforesaid responsibilities had at all material times with or without request from ESUT made donations of cash and materials in support of numerous programs and more recently when the convocation before the last was scheduled ESUT Alumni made a donation of ₦5, 000,000.00(Five million naira) to support the construction of ESUT convocation pavilion and 2022 convocation of ESUT.
” Based on your present request and In furtherance of the continued support by ESUT Alumni to the ESUT Management, the Alumni hereby donate ₦10,000.000.00. (Ten million naira) to support sundry projects and the 2024 convocation scheduled to be held on 23rd November 2024.
“The NEC also resolved that the Alumni symposium which is usually part of each convocation programs and which provides the Alumni members the opportunity to gather in ESUT on each convocation to support and celebrate an age-long convention of awarding an Honorary Doctorate Degree to an alumni member whose name is submitted by the Alumni as deserving of such award is for the first time in several years not scheduled to be awarded and therefore lack the usual spirit to gather to participate and celebrate through the symposium and as a consequence has therefore shifted the symposium to next convocation.”
