The management of Enugu State University of Science And Technology (ESUT) is set to transform the Department of Architecture, currently housed under the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, into a standalone Faculty of Architecture.
Architecture, a discipline that encompasses various aspect of building and construction such as environmental, structural, mechanical and electrical, will now expand into multiple specialized departments.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aloysius Michael Okolie, “The primary aim of creating a faculty of architecture is to enhance infrastructure and elevate academic standards. We are aware of the consequences of this such as more hands to manage the faculty, we tackling them”.
The proposed faculty of architecture will comprise several distinct departments, each with specialized functions. These include the Department of Architecture, the Department of Interior Design and the Department of Landscape Architecture, among others.
This new structure is expected to provide numerous benefits, such as an improved student experience, enhanced career prospects, and increased opportunities for industry partnerships and networking.
The faculty of architecture promises to raise the quality of education and research in the field of the built environment at ESUT.
