Nomeks Hostel in ESUT Gets New Leadership, Uwogechukwu Promise Elected Governor

Agbani – The Nomeks Hostel of Enugu State University of Technology (ESUT) recently witnessed a peaceful transition of power as a new set of executives took the reins for the 2024/2025 academic session.

The outgoing governor, Ogechineke Goodness Somtochukwu, handed over the mantle of leadership to Uwogechukwu Promise after a fair and transparent selection process.

The selection process for the new executives, although unconventional, was deemed fair by both the outgoing and incoming leaders. Unlike traditional elections, a screening process was employed to identify suitable candidates. Interested students submitted applications, which were then reviewed by a panel. The final selection was made based on the candidates’ qualifications and potential.

While some hostel residents initially expressed discontent with the selection process, the situation was quickly resolved through open dialogue and understanding. Ogechineke assured that the process was fair and transparent, emphasizing the importance of selecting individuals who could effectively represent the interests of the hostelers.A legacy of service and Improvement.

Ogechineke, the outgoing governor, reflected on her tenure, highlighting the challenges she faced and the achievements she made. She spoke of the initial difficulties in providing adequate water supply and reliable internet connectivity. However, through persistent efforts and cooperation with the university management, she was able to implement solutions such as a solar-powered water pumping system and improved Wi-Fi infrastructure.

Residents of the Hostels applauded the leadership process

Beyond physical infrastructure, Ogechineke prioritized fostering a sense of community and well-being among the hostelers. She encouraged open communication, addressing concerns and grievances promptly. She also took steps to ensure the safety and security of the residents, working closely with security personnel to prevent incidents of harassment and bullying.

The newly elected governor, Uwogechukwu Promise, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve the hostel community. She acknowledged the challenges that lie ahead but expressed confidence in her ability to lead the hostel to greater heights.

Uwogechukwu pledged to build upon the foundation laid by her predecessor, focusing on enhancing the overall living experience for hostelers. She aims to improve facilities, organize social events, and address any issues that may arise.

As the new academic year unfolds, the Nomeks Hostel community eagerly anticipates the positive changes that the new executive council will bring. With a strong foundation and a dedicated leadership team, the future of Nomeks Hostel looks promising.
