ESUT Radio Gets NBC Approval, Set To Commence Test Transmission

The Nigeria Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has granted operational licence to the ESUT Radio to begin operations.
Tje Head of Mass Communication Department, ESUT, Dr Chidiebere Ezinwa who disclosed this to ESUT Monitor, said with the approval, ESUT Radio has been legally empowered to begin test transmission.
Dr Ezinwa who commended the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Aloysius-Michaels Okolie and his management team for working round the clock to restore the radio station said that professionals have been brought in to manage the station adding that students of Mass Communication Department have been undergoing training in readiness for the takeoff.
He stressed that with the restoration of the ESUT Radio transmitting on 106.5FM, the department is ready to capture the media airways in the university. He noted that having ESUT Monitor Newspaper along with the ESUT Radio will give students off the department all round practical training in journalism this aligning with Governor Peter Ndubisi Mbah’s policy of experiential learning.
“I am delighted to inform the university community that the Nigeria Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has granted Licence to ESUT Radio to begin operations. With the acquisition of the license, ESUT Radio now have the legal framework to operate.
“This is a milestone made possible by the Vice-Chancellor and his management team who worked round the clock to restore the radio station. We are grateful to them for this honour.
“Let me also inform you that with the fill license, we have been empowered to begin full test transmission. Previously we were running experimental transmission. Now we have been empowered to go full blast and that is why we are assembling the best hands in Radio broadcasting in Nigeria to help us takeoff. “
