As part of measures to mitigate the effect of climate change and provide a green environment in ESUT, the Enugu State Government has delivered 1000 Palm seedlings to the university.
The Commissioner for Agriculture and Agro Industrialization, Patrick Nwabueze Ubru made the delivery for the environmental turn-around of the University on Friday, March 28, 2025. The Commissioner noted that the gesture was part of the state government’s move to boost agriculture in the state and by so doing help to mitigate the impact of climate change within the area.
He added that the 1000 palm seedlings were released for their Green Environment Program instead of ornamental flowers for the improvement and development of Agriculture in the University.
On Friday, March 28th 2025 will be a day to remember in the annals of events in the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) as the University received the 1000 palm seedlings promised it by the Hon Commissioner of Agriculture and Agro Industrialization, Patrick Nwabueze Ubru for the environmental turn-around of the University.
Receiving the seedlings, the Dean Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources Management, Prof. Emeka Nzeh, with other Management Staff of the University on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Aloysius-Michaels Okolie expressed words of appreciation to the working Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and his Commissioner of Agriculture Hon. Ubru for being swift in their response to the request. He assured that the University through the Faculty of Agriculture will not waste time to get the crops planted with the expected continuous nurturing.
It should be recalled that on the 14th day of March 2025, the Vice Chancellor of ESUT sent a delegation led by the University’s Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Chike Nwoha to Hon. Ubru requesting for an assistance from the Ministry for the improvement of the Green Environment of the Citadel of Learning with the supply of ornamental flowers after Prof. Emeka Nzeh’s earlier visit to the Commissioner.
