Surveyors President Storms ESUT for Dept. of Quantity Surveying Maiden Int’l Conference

The Department of Quantity Surveying, Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) is set to host its inaugural international conference later this month. The conference themed “The Quantity Surveyor’s Edge,” aims to bring together intellectuals, academics, and industry professionals to discuss challenges facing the construction industry and outline solutions.
Scheduled to take place on June 25th and 26th, 2025, at the Prof. Julius Onah Auditorium, ESUT Agbani Campus, the conference will feature notable speaker Obafemi Onoshile, President of the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria.
The department’s head, Dr. Henry Ajaelu, revealed that the conference will leverage the university’s digital Postgraduate Smart Classroom, allowing foreign resource persons to deliver presentations virtually. Participants can expect to gain insights into the importance of quantity surveying in society.
The conference also invites paper submissions for publication in the PM World Journal, with a participation fee of ₦20,000 for Nigerians and $50 for foreigners. Paper publication fee is ₦30,000.
Dr. Ajaelu emphasized that the conference aims to raise a communiqué addressing prominent issues within the construction industry, highlighting the significance of quantity surveying.

Obafemi Onashile, a former President of the Nigeria Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS), was elected the president of the newly inaugurated 10th Board of the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN) in April 2024
Obafemi Onashile ( born August 1964) a graduate of Quantity Surveying from the University of Ife, Ile-Ife, (now Obafemi Awolowo University) and a holder of master’s degree in project management (MPM) from University of Lagos, is an erudite Quantity Surveyor in private consultancy business with a wealth of experience of close to 40 years
He is a qualified project manager, Construction Contract Arbitrator and a Transaction Advisory specialist for Public Private Partnership Infrastructure Concessions.
He is a past President of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors ( NIQS) and the immediate past President of the African Association of Quantity Surveyors. ( AAQS). He currently serves as the President of the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN)
