BREAKING NEWS: ESUT SUG Elections Postponed Indefinitely

The elections into the Students Union Government (SUG) of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) earlier slated to hold on Friday, June 13, 2025 has been indefinitely postponed.

Announcing the postponement through a circular dated June 11, 2025 and signed by the University Registrar, Chief Ambrose Ùgwù, ESUT management noted that the postponement was as a result of security advice by the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command based “on the state of the nation’

The circular titled “Postponement of 2025 SUG Election” while announcing that the elections have been postponed sine die, also directed Deans of faculties and Heads of Department to ensure full compliance by students and staff

“I am directed to inform the Students and entire University Community that following the advice of the Enugu State Commissioner of Police on the State of the Nation ,the 2025 Students Union Government (SUG) Election earlier scheduled to hold on Friday, 13th and Saturday 14th June, 2025 have been postponed till further notice.

“All Deans, Directors and Heads of Department /Units are hereby directed to bring the following information to the attention of Staff and Students under them,” the memo read.

Elections into various positions in the students’ union body was scheduled to hold this Friday following the screening of candidates by the various security agents and the university management last week.

The tenure of the current SUG officials elapsed in February this year.
