ESUT VC Commends Corps Members on Signage Project, Increases Their Stipend

ESUT Vice Chancellor, Prof. Aloysius-Michaels Okolie has commended the twenty four NYSC Corps members serving in the university for their wonderful support and donation towards the enhancement of the environment of their area of primary assignment, ESUT.

The Corps members, led by their Corps Liaison Officer,  Eseverere Carrington Varo pulled resources, designed and mounted beautiful Signages at the two entrances of ESUT Administrative block captioned ESUT Administrative Building – Registrar/Bursar’s Wing to provide easy compass to visitors.

Addressing the corpers from different batches and streams of the 2024/2025 service years who gathered at the University Council Chamber, the Vice Chancellor expressed deep pleasure over their large heart and noble spirit in affecting the university positively and assured of Management ‘s commitment in making their living environment and their stay comfortable.

Besides the upward adjustment in there monthly stipends, Prof Okolie noted that steps have been taken by management to supply water to the Corpers Lodge through the ongoing reticulation process from the two Solar powered boreholes with tank capacities of 330,000 and 300, 000 litres sunk by the university recently.

The Vice Chancellor also happily informed the corpers that 8 Faculty Buildings, the students hostels, the Administrative Building and the Medical Centre were currently enjoying constant water supplies from the ongoing reticulation exercise assuring that all other areas would be covered as work progressed. He also congratulated 6 of the corpers that have rounded off their service year,  enjoined them not to rest on their oars but to consider career advancement and higher certification in order to add value and prepare strongly for the future.He also directed that the sum of N30,000 be released to each of the six corpers namely Carrington E Varo, Ojanyaso Patricia, Felix Elizabeth, Fabian Donald Ndoe, Nwaokolo Vivian Oluchukwu and Adebisi  Israel Anu as patching gift/ transport allowance back home.

Earlier in his address, the leader of the team Carrington Varo had thanked the Vice Chancellor and his Management Team for their fatherly disposition on the corpers affairs, stressing that the Signage was just a token of appreciation of Management’s kind gesture on them. He informed  the university management that ESUT Corpers ranked First in Community Service in the whole of Nkanu West LGA and assured that the  next Corps Liaison Officer, his successor, Azubogu kosi Oluchukwu would carry the banner higher and impact the university better.

In his remarks, the University Registrar, Sir Ambrose Ugwu, while thanking the Vice Chancellor and his team of Management for making out time to be with the Corpers also  expressed gratitude for the Signage mounted by the Corpers.

He called on them to prepare a brief report on their activities and stay in the university and submit same through their CLO to the Registrar for documentation and references.

Others present at the brief ceremony were the Deputy Vice Chancellor – Prof Chike Nwoha, the university Librarian, Dr Uzoamaka Ogwo, the DAP, Prof Chike Anibeze and the Dean Students Affairs, Prof Ifeoma Okwor amongst others.
