Law Faculty Holds 2nd Edition Of Nweze Memorial Lecture Wednesday

The Faculty of Law, Enugu State University of Science and Technology ESUT is set to host the Second Edition of Hon Justice Nweze Memorial Lecture
According a circular signed by the Associate Dean of the Faculty, Rev. Sr. Chiagozie Onuegbulam, the lecture anchored on the theme “Legal Reform and Fiscal Federalism: A Twin Approach to National Development” will hold on Wednesday, October 2025 at the ESUT Senate Chambers commencing from 11am.
The Guest Lecturer of the day will be Prof Fabian Ajogwu – OFR, SAN.
Prof. Fabian Ajogwu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, practices law at Kenna Partners; and is a Lagos Business School Professor of Corporate Governance. He is an Alumnus of the Said Business School of Oxford University. The Learned Senior Advocate has been Lead Counsel to the Federal Government of Nigeria in several cases of national importance.
Professor Ajogwu chaired the Nigerian Communications Commission Committee on Corporate Governance that produced the first NCC Code of Corporate Governance for the Telecommunication Sector in 2014. He served on the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria 2018 Technical Committee on the National Code of Corporate Governance, having assisted the Securities and Exchange Commission in drafting Nigeria’s pioneer Code of Corporate Governance in 2003. He is a Fellow of the Society for Corporate Governance Nigeria; a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators, Fellow of the African Leadership Initiative West Africa, Henry Crown Global Leadership of the Aspen Institute and a Fellow of the AIFA Reading Society.
The Executive Governor of Enugu State, Barr Peter Mbah will be the Special Guest of Honour while the Vice-Chancellor, ESUT, Professor Aloysius-Michaels Okolie is the host.
It could be recalled that the maiden edition of the Justice Nweze Memorial Lecture by the Faculty was held on September 25, 2024 with the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto, Most Rev Matthew Kukaka as the Guest lecturer.
The Memorial Lecture is organised by the Faculty of Law, ESUT in memory of late legal luminary, Hon. Justice Chima Centus Nweze.
Late Justice Nweze who hails from Enugu State, was a Supreme Court Justice until his death on July 30, 2023 aged 64.
