ESUT Mass Communication Dept. Hails Igboeze South Council Chairman for ₦.5 Million Support

Enugu – The board of the Department of Mass Communication at Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT, has expressed profound gratitude to the Chairman of Igboeze South Local Government Area, Barr. Ugo-Ferdinand Ukwueze, for the financial assistance rendered to its students.

Barr. Ugo-Ferdinand Ukwueze on Thursday, during the 2025 Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Enugu Council Press Week held at the International Conference Centre, Enugu, made a pledge of ₦500,000 in support of the academic activities of the ESUT Mass Communication students who participated in the programme.

In an appreciation message signed by the Head, Department of Mass Communication, Dr. Chidiebere Ezinwa, and sent to newsmen in Enugu on Saturday, he stated that Barr. Ugo-Ferdinand Ukwueze has, through the gesture, shown his deep value for communication education, youth development, and human progress.

He stated that such an act has also generated palpable excitement amongst the students, which will forever remain fresh in their hearts, adding that the donation will be utilised for the advancement of communication education in the department.

“On behalf of the staff and students of our department, I write to express our profound gratitude for your generous gift of the sum of five hundred thousand naira (₦500,000) to our students during the recent Press Week, organised by the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Enugu, at the International Conference Centre, Enugu.

“This is a clear demonstration of your deep value for communication education, youth development, and human progress. The excitement generated among our students by this kind gesture is palpable and will hardly die down. I am certain the memory will continue to motivate and inspire the students to pursue their communication education with greater zeal, dedication, and commitment.

“As a department, we are immensely grateful for this show of human kindness and support and wish to assure that the donation will be utilised for the advancement of communication education in the department.

“Kindly accept our sincere appreciation as we earnestly pray for greater accomplishments and success stories in your service to the people,” the statement read,
