Luchuk Integrated Ltd. Partners ESUT on Agriculture, Supplies 4,000 Day-old Chicks

Foremost agro business company, Luchuk Integrated Ltd Enugu, is partnering the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT in areas of agriculture.

This is as the company will supply a total of 4, 000 day-old chicks of broiler spice and 500 pullets to the university.

This was part of the discussion between the company and the university management in a meeting held at the Vice-Chancellor’s office on Wednesday.

Represented by the Sales Manager, Mr Onyekelu Eze Chidozie, the company noted that the essence of the partnership is to promote made in Nigeria birds and also to seek support of the university in promoting its products.

Mr Chidozie noted that the company is ready to partner the university in other areas including taking students from ESUT on six months Industrial training.

In his response, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Aloysius-Michaels Okolie thanked the company for its interest in the affairs of the university.

While expressing the importance of agriculture in building a nation and ensuring a healthy life, the Vice-Chancellor noted that the university is willing to explore agriculture fully so as to make the university the centre for food production not just in South East but in the federation

“We welcome you to ESUT and appreciate you for your interest in what we are doing here. We are delighted in this partnership particularly as it relates to agriculture. Agriculture remains the mainstay of every nation that wants to have a healthy people.

“Here in ESUT we have the power and partnership such as this will enable us to feed the nation. Our plan is to make ESUT the hub of agriculture and food production not just in South East but the entire nation.

Earlier in his introductory speech, the Director, ESUT Consultancy Services, Professor Okechukwu Oji, told the university management that the partnership will promote agriculture and other activities in the university. He opined that Luchuk Integrated Ltd. which is in agro business for some years, will help the university to expand its agricultural frontiers.

In his speech, the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Prof Emeka Nze, said the faculty is ready to house and overseer the chicks adding that the University is a huge market for the products.

Prof Nze said that the new leadership of the faculty is willing to accept such partnership with a view to not only giving the students greater knowledge but in bridging the gap in food chain in the state and beyond.

The 4,000 chicks will be supplied two batches of 2000 each with the fist bach set arrive on 10 October while the second batch will be delivered on the 16.

The delivering on 16 October will coincide with the World Food Day celebrated globally on the day.
