The Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) has warned students against hostel racketeering, including the unauthorised sale, transfer, exchange or trading of hostel spaces and allocations.

The university, in an internal memorandum dated September 22, 2026, by the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Ifeoma Okwo, said students found engaging in hostel racketeering, impersonation or any other form of malpractice in securing accommodation would face appropriate disciplinary action.

The memorandum, titled “Information on Hostel Allocation for 2026/2027 Academic Session,” stated that hostel allocation would be conducted online.
It added that only students who had paid their school fees for the 2026/2027 academic session would be eligible to apply for hostel accommodation.

The university also prohibited impersonation in the process of obtaining hostel accommodation, warning students against using another student’s name, registration number or other personal details to secure hostel allocation.

According to the memorandum, any student found violating the regulations would be disciplined in accordance with the university’s rules.

The institution said the commencement date for hostel applications would be communicated to students in due course, advising them to await further information.
