Agbani – The Dean Student Affairs, ESUT,
Prof Ifeoma Okwo has disclosed reasons the university management extended the deadline day for payment of school fees and course registration by students.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with ESUT Monitor in her office on Wednesday, Prof Okwo stated that by now portal would have been closed, but following her intervention and recommendations to management to defer the closure, due to students inability to pay and concluded their online course registration, the deadline was extended

The Dean noted that the students were complaining that they are findings it difficult to pay, that the deadline should be extended.

“The management saw to it because things are hard in the country, and ị want to use this medium to inform the students and parents that university has giving them ọne month period to pay their fees and concluded their online course registration,” the Dean said.

Prof Okwo also noted that following appeals from her office, the University Senate rescinded earlier decision that students must pay for school fees first before paying for accommodation

“I also put an appeal because I am the eyes and ears of the students, following their complaints, our students can now secure a room before paying their school fees so they can be attending lectures while we wait for December that portal will be closed,” she said.

The Dean noted that on expiration of the new date on December 4, no further extension would be made and urged the students to make best use of the second opportunity to co conclude their payment and registration processes.

“This is an opportunity to tell the students that we cannot plead the management again on their behalf for any other extension, and before December 4th that every student must have completed his or her payment

“If you go to other universities you cant register or start School without paying your School fees within ọne week of resumption but we are giving the students opportunity and they should utilize it.”
