Ahead of the commencement of the second semester examinations in ESUT, a lecture in the Department of Mass Communication, Mr Joel Asogwa as advised the students to shun examination malpractice of face expulsion.

Mr Asogwa who is the Examination Officer of the department stated this on Thursday during the orientation programme for year one students in the department.

Speaking on the topic “Examination Malpractice and Penalties”, Mr Asogwa disclosed that examination maleficence is not tolerated in the department in particular and ESUT at large

Mrs Christiana Agbo delivered a lecture on dressing

He urged the students to face their studies serious, add lecture, participate in quiz and carry out assignments given to them.

The exam officer frowned at students who do not attend classes but only come to class during examination and winder what they were coming to do.

He enumerated some of the examination offences in the university to include: assault on an invigilator and impersonation which attract immediate expulsion from the university.

Other offences he mentioned are: “students involvement in examination leakage, destruction of evidence relating to the case, smuggling already prepared answer scripts into the examination hall, smuggling out examination questions from exam hall, writing solutions on any part of the body clothes and smuggling out answer scripts from exam hall all of which attracts three years suspension, each for second offenders and one year suspension for first offenders.

“I thank the department for this great opportunity because now you have all been guided but I must say that on the judgement day, may you not be found guilty of any of these offence. To be forewarned is to be forearmed,” he stated.

Speaking on the topic “Dress Code and Indecent Dressing”, another lecturer in the department, Mr Christiana Agbo took the students through in decent and Indecent Dressing stressing that both have their repercussions.

Year one Course Reps (1&2) Precious Eneh and Onyekachi Agu gave a vite of thanks after the programme

Mrs Agbo who condemned indecent and improper dressing among the students implored them to always dress neat, look neat and be respected.

She identified three different types of dressing among the students. “There are three different kinds of dressing among you, the students. They are, decent dressing, indecent dressing and improper dressing. Decent dressing, which is the ideal is not too common among you. Many of you are guilty of indecent dressing while majority of you dress improperly. Improper dressing is when you put on the sky-blue shirt but refused to tuck the shirt in or wear bathroom slippers. The department frowns at this and now you have been made aware of this, we want to you to turn a new leaf,” she said.

The second semester examination in ESUT will commence on Tuesday, July 23, and end on Thursday, August 8, 2024
