As part of activities to mark the 21stConvocation Ceremony of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), the management of the institution has named the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Dr Tajudeen Abbas among the three recipients of the university’s Honorary Doctoral Degrees awards.

Others on the list are: the senator representing Enugu West in the 10^th National Assembly, Senator Osita Ngwu as well as the Chief Executive Officer, Polystar Electronics, Chief Dr Paulinus Ozonnagbo.

The names of the nominees were approved on Wednesday by the University Senate during its meeting after the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aloysius-Michaels Okolie presented a letter for their confirmation.

“Award of Honorary Doctoral Degrees (Honoris Causa) to the distinguished national and global personalities who have recorded remarkable achievements in the transmutation of the Country” part of the letter read.

Rt Hon Dr Tajudeen Abbas – Speaker, House of Representatives, will be conferred with the Honorary Doctorate Award for Legislative Practice, Senator Osita Ngwu, Senate Minority Whip and Distinguished Senator representing Enugu West Senatorial District will receive the Honorary Doctorate Award for Governance and Public Policy.

On his part, Chief Dr Paulinus Ozonnagbo – Chief Executive Officer, Polystar Electronics, will be conferred with the Honorary Doctorate Award for Business Administration.

The 21^st Convocation Ceremony of ESUT will hold on Saturday, November 22^nd, 2025 at the ESUT Pavilion, ESUT main Campus, Agbani.

The senator representing Enugu West at the 10^th National Assembly, Senator Osita Ngwu will deliver the Keynote Address at the maiden Faculty of Physical Sciences – Enugu State University of Science And Technology (ESUT) – International Conference holding next month

The three-day global conference will commence on Tuesday 28 through Thursday, 30^th October, 2025.

Anchored on the theme: “The Triple Helix Revolution: Catalysing Innovation, Research, Enterprise for a Future-Ready Society”, the conference will bring scholars, researchers, diplomats and interested participants across the world together to cross-fertilize ideas on collaboration, knowledge economy as well as innovation in building headliner and sustainable atmosphere

The conference will hold at the Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah Auditorium, ESUT, Agbani commencing by 9am each day.

The Triple Helix Revolution refers to the evolving and increasingly integrated interactions between academia, industry, and government to foster innovation and economic growth.

While Senator Ngwu will deliver the Keynote Address at the Conference, other notable speakers include: Prof Kenneth Oforkansi of Alexander von Humboldt Scholar, Germany, Prof Ayodele Ajayi, Head, Department of Agrictural and Environmental Engineering, Federal University of technology, Akure; the Director-General, National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion, Dr. Obiageli Amadiobi, among others.

The Maiden Faculty of Physical Sciences International Conference will by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof Gabriel Ugwu while the ESUT Vice-Chancellor, Prof Aloyisus-Michaels Okolie is the Chief Host. Dr Chinyere Onyeabor is the Chairman, Planning Committee

The Kenoye Speaker graduated from ESUT in 2001 where he bagged a Bachelor of Engineering. He obtained a Masters of Business Administration MBA at University Roehampton, London, Business School in 2016. He is a member of various professional bodies, Nigerian Society of Engineers NSE, Nigerian Mechanical Engineers Association NMEA and Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria COREN.
