ESUT Alumni new President, CNN Nwagbara – Entrusted to deliver

On December 19, 2023, Chief Barr C.N.N. Nwagbara was elected as the new national president, Enugu State University of Science and technology, ESUT Alumni Association.

The election held in Imo State, South-East Nigeria, was the most peaceful and coordinated as the 19 members of the new Executive Council emerged devoid of divided opinions.

Chief Nwagbara’s emergence, considered a round peg in a round hole, has inspired courage and new zeal to continue to project the good emerge of ESUT nationally and globally.  

Chief Barr Nwagbara’s beginning

Born in Omuonyia, Obeagwu Autonomous Community, Ozalla in Nkanu-West local Government Area, Barrister Nwagbara who is also the current Chairman, Enugu State Bar Association, began his academic journey at the Holy Ghost Cathedral Primary School, Ogui Enugu. Upon finishing his primary school, he proceeded to the historic National Grammar School, Nike Enugu where he obtained his School Certificate in 1986. He had his Post-Secondary education at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) where he had his OND in 1989.           

As a man with innate desire in jurisprudence, Chief Nwagbara proceeded to the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT where he bagged LLB certificate in 19998 in Law. He enrolled into the Nigeria Law School in the year 2000 and was subsequently called to bar.

Called to bar 24 years ago, Barrister CNN Nwagbara began his legal journey by attaching himself to a law firm in Enugu between 2001 and 2007 where his legal and judicial gown were sewed and horned.

Leaving the firm, he went private and established his own legal firm, CNN Nwagbara and Associate (Lucky Chambord) in 2007.

Born to Lead

Between 2003 and 2011, he served as the National Legal Adviser, ESUT Alumni Association; Legal Adviser, Enugu North L.G.A – a position he has held for over 12 years and still running. He served as one-time PDP Enugu North LGA Legal Adviser 2008-2012. In 2016, he was appointed Notary Public and commissioner for oaths by Chief Judge of Nigeria. Elected Vice president, Obeagwu-Ozalla Development Union 2014 – 2016 before he was given a higher responsible by his people who elected him as the President General, Ozalla Development Union (ODU) which he served from 2020 – 2023.

On 9th December, 2023, Chief barrister CNN Nwagbara was elected and sworn in as National President, ESUT Alumni Association.

Expanding legal horizon

Since joining the Nigeria Bar 24 years ago, Chief Nwagbara has continued to impact to humanity and society. His more than two decades experience in legal expertise has positioned him for various leadership roles, a talent he horned over the years.

For instance, he was elected as the Legal Adviser, Nigeria Bar Association Enugu Chapter, 2010 and 2012; Vice Chairman, 2014 and 2016 and chairman in 2022.

Previously, he was a member Criminal Justice Reform Committee of NBA National in 2017; a member, NBA committee against fake Lawyers as well as member, 2022 NBA National Congress, NEC.

As devote Christian, Chief Nwagbara is committed to his faith and has continued to grow in that regard with acquisitions of various certificates including Graduate of Workers in Training as well as Certificate on Mediation, all from the Redeemed Christian Church, Enugu.

Married with four adorable children, Barrister Nwagbara’s hobbies include football, reading and listening to music.

Although he has not released any album in music, he has justified his football prowess as he remains the vice-captain, NBA Enugu Branch Football Team since 2010
