In our Day 3 of unveiling of Best Graduating Student (BGS) in ESUT, today we present the BGS of Department Mechanical and Production Engineering, MPE, Engr Okoli Ebuka Francis.

A native of Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Engr Okolie emerged not just the BGS in MPE but also the Overall Best Graduating Student in the Faculty of Engineering with FCGPA of 4.61.

Engr Okoli’s quest to become a mechanical Engineer was nurtured early enough due to the fact that his father was a renowned business merchant in machine spare parts in Nnewi

It was not surprising that he desired to become a Mechanical Engineer and he did that with absolute hardwork and commitment, setting standards for his mates and peers.

As the 2022/2023 Best Graduating Student both in his department and faculty, Engr Okoli told ESUT Monitor that the journey was very challenging so much that at a point he contemplated quitting.

Currently serving his father’s land in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Lagos, Engr Okoli said that emerging the BGS of his department and faculty is a standard he has set for himself and siblings, being the first child in the family.

“I will say my student years experience for sure that my five years in ESUT was definitely worth it. From the beautiful friends I made to the lectures I attended, the difficult period where I felt like giving up. But I just have to keep pushing through prayer and advice of my friend. Every of these moments were worth it. I really do thank God always.

“The feat really means a lot to me. Considering that I am the first child , I have set a good standard for my siblings. Now, to myself, I really did made myself and family proud. I thank God for this moment.,” he said.

Recently, as the BGS of Faculty of Engineering, Engr Okoli represented the University at the 2024 Engineering CODET ABUJA as best graduate from faculty of Engineering ESUT

Perhaps wishing to be the Aruna Quadri of Africa someday as he has flair for table tennis and learning new things including teaching, his key aspiration now is to venture into Automobile Engineering in his future studies once there is availability of fund.
