The Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Barrister Ifeanyi Ossai will on Monday, December 16, 2024 storm the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT College of Medicine to witness the inaugural Annual Merit Award Ceremony.

Barr Ossai  who doubles as the Special Guest and Chairman of the occasion, impeccable sources in the Government House, told this paper, will grace the ceremony.

“The Award ceremony is registered as part of his itineraries on Monday,” the source said.

His presence will further deepen the already existing excellent relationship the university has with the Enugu State Government who has spent over one billion on infrastructure in the College.

Speaking on why the College decided to institute the award, Chairman of Local Organising Committee, (LOC), Dr Mba Sunday, said the management of the College thought it wise to initiate the award as part of its strategic plan in recognition of the meritorious service provided by the awardees and for motivation of the staff towards excellent service delivery to the University.

“This is one of the activities in the strategic plan of management of ESUT College of Medicine aimed at recognition of the meritorious service provided by the awardees and for motivation of the staff of the ESUT College of Medicine towards excellent service delivery to the University,” he said.

On the processes leading to the selection of the awardees and sustainability of the award, Dr Mba said “The process of selecting the awardees was a rigorous one to ensure that the best is selected. It was a painstaking exercise.

“Talking about sustainability, this is the first edition of the award ceremony and as such has come to stay as an annual event to be organized after the end of every academic session.”

The Full names of the awardees will be made public when the ceremony begins at 11am at the College Auditorium, ESUT Parklane, Enugu.
