Faculty of Environmental Sciences Receives Over N5 Million Donations During Alumni Homecoming

The Faculty of Environmental Sciences at Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) on Wednesday hosted first ever alumni homecoming event that brought together alumni, students, and faculty members with over 5 million received in donations

The event, which was held at the Prod Julius Onah Auditorium, was a success, with attendees reminiscing about old times and forging new connections.

Over five million naira was donated by the alumni who requested that the homecoming should be a yearly affair.

The homecoming event saw a turnout of alumni from various graduating classes, who came together to celebrate their shared experiences and network with current students. The event featured a series of activities, including guest lectures and award presentation.

It also provided an opportunity for alumni to network with current students, offering valuable insights and advice on career development and entrepreneurship. Many attendees expressed their satisfaction with the event, praising the faculty for organizing a successful reunion.

During the event, distinguished alumni reconnected with their former lecturers and classmates, sharing stories of their professional journeys and personal growth. Themed “Reunion of Legends,” the homecoming featured a series of activities, including a welcome address and a keynote lecture on environmental sustainability.

In his welcome address, the Dean, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Prof Edmund Iyi expressed gratitude to the alumni for their continued support and engagement with the faculty. He noted that the homecoming event was a testament to the strong bond between the faculty and its alumni, and highlighted the importance of maintaining these relationships.

In his speech, the Vice Chancellor ESUT, Professor Aloysius-Michaels Okolie who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Chike Nwoha commended the Faculty for the event and praised the alumni for turning up. He describes alumni as the engine room of every research or teaching institution and urged them to remain good ambassadors of not just the faculty but the university at large.

On his part, the Guests Speaker and Chairman of the Event, Dr Ogbnna Chime, who is the President, Nigeria Institute of Town Planners , commended the Faculty for the great strides it has attained and promised that he would liaise with other alumni on the need to support the faculty.

The Faculty of Environmental Sciences at ESUT is known for producing highly skilled and environmentally conscious graduates, who have gone on to make significant contributions in their respective fields. The successful homecoming event is a testament to the faculty’s commitment to fostering a sense of community and camaraderie among its alumni and students.
