The Dean Faculty of Management Sciences (FMS), ESUT, Professor Uchenna Ugwuanyi has continued to underscore why he is called “Mr Project” as he has begun the landscaping of the Block B of the faculty as well as grading of the road leading to the Main Faculty Building housing his office.

Students of the faculty who will be returning from their long vacation in October will have a new faculty environment to welcome them as Professor Ugwuanyi continues to reshape the faculty’s environment not only to enhance the topographic scenery.

Shortly after providing a 140KW solar PV system for the Faculty which was commissioned by the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr Peter Mbah on November 19, 2024, Professor Uche Ugwuanyi has flowed it up with other gigantic projects aimed at improving the learning environment in the faculty.

Being the largest faculty in the University with two Blocks – Block A, which houses the Dean’s office and some departments as well as Block B, which accommodates Departments of Mass Communication, Insurance and Risk Management, Marketing, among others – Prof Ugwanyi immediately went about repainting the blocks and landscaping the Block B few weeks after completing that of Block A..

Thereafter he embarked on reticulation of water across the two Blocks before he began the landscaping of Block B which is currently ongoing. To cap it all, few days ago, he also embarked on grading of the road leading to the two Faculty’s Blocks including the Department of Mass Communication.

Speaking on the projects executed by the Dean, a senior lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication, ESUT, Dr Andrew Apeh said they were not unexpected. He noted that since assuming office a year ago, Prof Uguwanyi during the handover/takeover ceremony articulated his plans for the faculty adding that he’s on course to accomplish all of them.

“I am not surprised about what the Dean is doing and anybody who knows him will attest to his capacity to deliver. During his acceptance speech on the handover day this time last year, he enumerated all that he is going to achieve in his Action Plan. What you are seeing today is a manifestation of the plans and let me assure you that no single project in the Action Plan would be left unexecuted.

“The grading of the faculty Road and landscaping of Block B are part of the plans. His mission is not only to provide a conducive atmosphere for effective pedagogy but to promote academic excellent. The faculty and by extension th University should expect more,” he said.  

During his In augural Speech, as the new Dean of FMS, Professor Ugwuanyi Stated: “As we embark on this new chapter together, I want to assure you of my unwavering commitment to the growth and development of our faculty. My vision is to bring our faculty into the limelight, showcasing the incredible work we do and the talent we nurture.

“My goal is to enhance Students learning experience, provide cutting-edge knowledge, and prepare you for successful careers.

under my administration as Dean of our Faculty, together, we will: Strengthen our research output and impact; Enhance our curriculum to meet industry demands, Foster stronger partnerships with the business community, Improve our facilities and resources and Promote a culture of inclusivity and collaboration.

“I am excited about the journey ahead and the positive changes we will bring about. Your ideas, feedback, and support will be crucial in shaping the future of our faculty. Let’s work together to make the Faculty of Management Sciences in ESUT a beacon of excellence in education, research, and innovation.”

It could be recalled that Professor Uchenna Boniface Ugwuanyi assumed duty as the FMS Dean in September 2024.
