“Today, Enugu State received the NAFEST Gong, officially confirming us as the proud Host of the National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST) 2025.

“From November 22 to 29, 2025, Enugu will once again take its place at the heart of Nigeria’s cultural map. The last time we hosted this prestigious festival was in 2008, and seventeen years later, we are honoured to welcome the nation and the world back to celebrate our unity in diversity.

“Enugu is ready. With our thriving creative economy, rich cultural heritage, and the legendary warmth of our people, we are set to deliver the most memorable NAFEST in history,” he said.

“We invite all Nigerians, friends of Nigeria, and lovers of arts and culture everywhere to converge on Enugu this November 2025 – to witness the strength of our traditions, the creativity of our people, and the dawn of our cultural renaissance.

“Enugu is rising. Enugu is ready. NAFEST 2025 will be unforgettable!”

The National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) in May announced Enugu as the host state for the 2025 National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST). Dubbed Nigeria’s “Cultural Olympics,” the week-long event will feature participation from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, with over 5,000 competitors expected.

Enugu, known as the “Coal City,” will leverage its cultural landmarks such as Ngwo Pine Forest, Awhum Waterfall, hospitality, and infrastructure, including over 300 hotels and new attractions like Nigeria’s first zipline and a canopy walkway.

The NAFEST 2025 will feature competitive and non-competitive activities such as traditional sports (Dambe boxing, wrestling), music/dance contests (Swag Show, Dance Off Naija), culinary battles (Jollof Wars), art exhibitions, film screenings, and workshops. Opening/closing ceremonies at Opara Square will include superstar concerts.

Themed “Connected Culture”, the festival aims to celebrate Nigeria’s cultural diversity, foster unity, and showcase Enugu’s blend of tradition and innovation. Attendees are invited to experience the region’s heritage, intellectual vibrancy – home to over 27 tertiary institutions – and natural beauty.
