No fewer than 23 programmes in the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) are expected to undergo re-accreditation exercise during the 2025/2026 academic session.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aloysius-Michaels Okolie disclosed this on Friday while playing host to teams of National Universities Commission (NUC) who were in the university for re-accreditation of two departments.

The NUC accreditation teams on inspection of the Departments of Mass Communication and Insurance and Risks management, paid a courtesy visit to the management of the university upon their arrival on Friday.

The teams comprising three inspectors each visited the two departments to access if they have the minimum requirements for re-accreditation.

The VC told the visitors that the management is doing everything within its powers to sustain its over 80 Programmes and urged them to make recommendations where necessary to help the university to grow.

“I want to welcome you all to ESUT. To some of you, I believe this is your first time in Enugu and your will enjoy your stay with us.  You are the first group that are coming to the university for the 2025 accreditation exercise, your inspection has diverse implications. Today, we have Mass Communication and Insurance and Risks management schedule for re-accreditation. Thereafter, other teams will arrive for the other 21 programmes.

“So it becomes a major burden on both parties, to try to get it right. Our core interest right now is on enhancing experiential learning, to development the students’ skills so that they can become effective even before graduation. To achieve this, we are supporting the departments with the provision of necessary human and material resources for them to excel.

“This is not to say that we are perfect, no. Where you find us deficient, give us a recommendations and we will implement them immediately. Your coming here, will be beneficiary to us because it would improve our system,” the VC said.
