21st Convocation: ESUT Declares Friday Lecture-free Day, Shuts Down Main Gate

Ahead of the 2025 Convocation Ceremony slated to hold on Saturday, the management of ESUT has announced Friday, November 21st a lecture-free day.
The announcement which was contained in a memo issued on Tuesday, signed by the Registrar, Chief Ambrose Ugwu, noted that the declaration became necessary to allow students and staff to actively participate in the convocation activities and directed Deans, Directors and HODs to comply
“This is to inform the University Community that Friday, the 21st day of November, 2025 has been declared a lecture free day. This is to enable Staff and Students to participate actively in the activities marking the 21st Convocation Ceremonies of the University.
“All Deans, Directors and Heads of Department are requested to bring the foregoing to the attention of the Staff and Students under them,” it said.
ESUT Monitor can report that convocation activities lined up on Friday include registration, accreditation of graduands and collection of academic gowns from 8am
The Alumni Day: “A Day of Eulogies and Tributes in Honour of the Icon and Pillar of the Modern-Day ESUT Alumni Association, Late Chief, Engr., Dr. Innocent I. Akuvue, KSJI, Hon DBA (ESUT), Ozo Ochudo Nibo”/ Interactive Session among Alumni-Alumnae/Industry Professionals/ Networking Session” will hold from 10am at the ESUT Alumni Centre, Ebeano City, ESUT.
Volleyball Match involving male Hostel Residents and Lodge Residents will kick-off by 4pm at the ESUT Volleyball Court.
Meanwhile, the university management has announced a temporary closure of the outbound lane of the University’s main gate effective from 9am on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
According to a circular signed by the Director of Works and Estates, Engr. Ezekwesili Onah, the closure was to allow for maintenance of the road ahead of the Saturday’s Convocation Ceremony.
“This is to notify the University Community, and visitors alike, that the outbound carriage way of the university main entrance road shall be temporarily closed for traffic, effective from 9.00am on Wednesday 19m November, 2025.
“The temporary closure is to enable us carry out minimal maintenance on the failed section of that carriageway and it shall be reopened as soon as the earmarked palliative maintenance works are completed.
“Motorists and other road users are by this notice advised to exercise maximal caution while plying the road as only one carriage way shall be used for both inbound and outbound traffics for the duration of the work,” Engr Onah said.
The 21st Convocation Ceremony will hold on Saturday, November 22nd, 2025 with 7, 991 graduates expected to receive various degrees. The Convocation ceremony is for the 2024/2024 graduates of the university.
