Outgoing ESUT Senate President Congratulates Successor, Pledges Support to new Leadership

The outgoing Senate President of the 16th Parliament of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Students Union Government (SUG), Sen. Okafor Sopuruchukwu has congratulated his successor, Sen. Onaga Nzubechukwu on his emergence as the Senate President-Elect after Wednesday’s Parliamentary elections.
In a congratulatory message released shortly after the election, the Senate President described the victory as a clear demonstration of the confidence reposed in the Senate President-Elect by members of the Senate and the entire student community. He noted that the mandate is a call to dedicated service and expressed confidence in the ability of the Senate President-Elect to lead with wisdom, integrity, and diligence and described the victory as “a call to service” and reaffirmed his commitment to work with the incoming leadership.
“This victory is a call to service. You earned this. ESUT students believe in your mandate,” the statement read. “We fought together, and we will serve together to greater heights. I stand with you 100%. I’m with you all the way. Let’s make an impact together.”
He also extended appreciation to stakeholders who contributed to the process, including Senate Principal Officers, Distinguished Senators who made up the 2/3 voting members, Monitoring Teams, and members of the Management Team present during the election.
“Count on my full support to align and deliver,” he added, urging all members to remain in the “Correct Settings for Alignment” as the new administration takes shape.
“Today ESUT students have spoken. Victory is about service, not titles. Let solidarity be louder than division. This mandate is for all of us. Let’s build ESUT together.”
He also commended the Distinguished Senators for the maturity and unity displayed throughout the election process, thanking them for delivering the mandate through a transparent and democratic process. According to him, the collective support of the Senators will be vital in achieving the goals of the 17th Parliament.
He concluded by calling on all Senators-elect to stand firmly behind the Senate President-Elect, set aside personal interests, and work together to build a stronger, more united, and progressive ESUT Students’ Union Senate for the benefit of all students.
The new SUG leadership will be sworn-in on a date to be announced later
