The Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) has disclosed its plan to participate in the Impact Africa International Debate and Public Speaking Competition in Cotonou.
The information was contained in a memo released by the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof Ifeoma Okwo on Thursday.
Prof. Ifeoma Okwor calls on undergraduates who have a passion for debate, public speaking, critical thinking, and intellectual engagement to declare interest and participate in the contest in October, 2026.
She stated that the competition is an opportunity for students to put their skills to the test, represent the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), and connect with students from leading tertiary institutions across Africa.

Prof. Ifeoma emphasized that the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Aloysius Michaels Okolie, has graciously approved the constitution of a formidable team who will represent ESUT at the 2026 Impact Africa International Debate Competition and Public Speaking Contest, scheduled to take place in October 2026 in Cotonou, Republic of Benin.
The competition brings together outstanding students from premier tertiary institutions for critical dialogue, intellectual exchange, public speaking, and cross-cultural engagement. It offers participants an exciting opportunity to sharpen their communication and analytical skills, broaden their perspectives, build valuable networks, and proudly represent ESUT on an international platform, she said.
The school calls for interested students for debate and public speaking. It is for students who can think critically and articulate ideas clearly and enjoy engaging with issues and defending positions with sound reasoning; who are confident, articulate, and willing to learn and represent the institution with excellence and distinction.
