As part of measures to enhance security on campus, the Vice-Chancellor of Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) Prof Aloysius-Michaels Okloie has announced that the management will build a Security Command and Control Centre in the university before the commencement of 2027/2-27 academic session.

Prof Okolie who disclosed this in Enugu during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected leadership of the Student Union Government (SUG) of the university on Tuesday, said the Command and Control Centre became expedient to checkmate growing issues of thievery in the university.

The VC added that the Centre will come with 300 Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras to ensure effective surveillance of the university environment stressing that approval for the funds have been given by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund.   

“We are going to prioritize what we must do to make this place not only good, but a livable place. TETFund has approved to give us some funds we deploy to build a security control and command center in ESUT with a component of 300 solar street panels with CCTV.

“We are hopeful that before you come back from your holiday, you’ll be seeing a command and control center, 300 solar street lights with cameras to enhance security within and around the campus,” he said.
